TRAVEL- Store Front Installation for MANA Contemporary

Store Front Takeover, Mixed Media | MANA Contemporary | 2019

Beneath a glowing light and an understated sign of the same name is “Travel,” a site-specific installation by Jessy Nite. As part of group exhibition “All Dressed Up” curated by Mana Contemporary, Jessy has created her own fictional Travel Agency in the storefront at 138 East Flagler Street. 

Inspired by Downtown Miami's many nondescript businesses in various states of decline, it is unclear whether Nite’s agency will ever open or exactly where it will take you. Large airbrush illustrations depict aspirational destinations, set off by accompanied phrases in Nite’s own typography: “You Can’t Escape / If You Think You’re Free”.  As subtle details come into focus it becomes clearer that this agency deals in journeys of the alternative kind.

SUN STORIES- A City of Coral Gables Public Art Commission

“Artist Jessy Nite harnesses the voice of the Sun in her newest installation, Sun Stories. Watch as the colorful shadows stretch and move across the plaza, narrating a story about tropical life and the City Beautiful.”

Sun Stories made a huge impression both in person and online. Thousands of photos appear under the hashtag and visitation numbers were at an all time high for the area. To compliment the installation, Jessy created an Activity Zine that explores the text she created for Sun Stories, inspired by the history of Coral Gables,

STAY GOLD- Permanent Outdoor Installation

Winner of the 2017 Public Space Challenge Grant, Located at the famous Robert Is Here Farm, In partnership with O, Miami | Metal and Concrete | April 2019

Stay Gold is the first Sunscape by Jessy Nite: a series of large scale, site-specific, outdoor sculptures that reflect their neighboring environment.  Text based, the structure is actually the negative space between the letters, and the positive form of the letter shapes are visually filled by the changing sunlight, landscape, people and activity surrounding the sculpture.  The text acts as a frame to tell a story, narrated by the environment that fills it in.


Sunscapes will be placed around Miami-Dade County to draw attention to the culture and environment of lesser known areas.  These large sculptures act as a beacon to the neighboring community and, through thoughtful year-round programming with local non profit O, Miami, these locations will become a center for free community engagement, cultural exchange, and education. 

Each Sunscape is accompanied by an Activity Zine designed by Jessy, full of fun interactive pages that educate about the community, culture, and ecology of the area surrounding the sculpture.
