BIO

Jessy Nite is a multidisciplinary artist based in Miami, FL. Known for immersive, site-specific work, Nite weaves together bold typography, material exploration, and environment to create works that engage both public space and personal reflection. Her practice spans paracord tapestries, sun-activated installations, and sculptural works that merge language, place, and materiality.

Text is central to Nite’s practice. She designs custom fonts to carry layered meaning. In her paracord series, she knots phrases into expansive tapestries, using a material associated with survival and resilience to explore themes of human connection, endurance, and joy. The works invite viewers to project their own narratives onto the language presented.

In 2024, residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Penland School of Craft expanded her material investigations into three-dimensional weaving. Building on her iconic use of paracord, Nite began incorporating natural fibers and traditional craft techniques, exploring how textile processes can inform contemporary art and design. This shift deepens her inquiry into structure, tension, and the cultural implications of craft, while maintaining her commitment to language as form.

Nite’s signature sun installations are activated by daylight, casting typographic shadows that shift with time and season. These works can be experienced throughout Miami, including at Soho Beach House and Nike (Lincoln Road), as well as in the Little Haiti, Little River, and Wynwood neighborhoods. She has realized large-scale public commissions across the United States and Europe.

Her work has been commissioned by institutions including the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places, Arts & Culture Miami Beach, the City of Coral Gables Arts in Public Places, the Knight Foundation Public Space Challenge Grant, Asbury Park Boardwalk CRA, Hilger Gallery (Vienna, Austria), and Harborside Jersey City. Corporate collaborations include Nike, Facebook, Instagram, Red Bull, NFL, and Ami Paris.

In 2026, Jessy was named a finalist for the Florida Prize in Contemporary Art with a solo presentation at the Orlando Museum of Art. Additional recent solo presentations include exhibitions with the Adrienne Arsht Center (2022), No Vacancy (2022), and Club Gallery (2023). Her work has been featured in Hypebeast, Artnet, Designboom, and The Artist Newspaper.

Nite lives and works in Miami, where she continues to expand the boundaries between language, craft, public space, and design.
